Hank's Whiskey

Does anybody knows what his weapon of choice for the whiskey. We see the bottle in the first episode and when he dumps the redhead but I can't put a name on the brand. Anyone knows? 'Cause I plan on kicking the Season 2 with a glass of that baby! 15  out of 19 found this valuable. Do you?

It is Glenlivet 12 years. It is not a whiskey but a single malt Scotch. And yes, I watched the first episode (2nd season) opening a bottle of this. 10  out of 13 found this valuable. Do you?

So after seeing this post, I decided that while re-watching Cali episodes I would track the whisk(e)ys that Hank drinks.

First off, a single malt scotch is a whiskey (or whisky). Scotch is to whiskey as champagne is to sparkling white wine. It's champagne when it come from Champagne, France. Otherwise it's a sparkling white wine. The same goes for whiskey. When it comes from Scotland it's scotch. When it comes from America it's bourbon. When it comes from Canada, Japan or (my personal favorite) Ireland it's whiskey. Malt refers to the distilling process the whiskey underwent.

All that being said, I haven't finished noting the identifiable scotch whiskeys in Cali so far, but in...
Season 1: Ep 1: A Glenlivet 12 yr is shown and subsequently consumed in Hank's apartment..
Season 1: Ep 2: Hank brings a bottle of Johnny Walker Red Label to the dinner party.
Season 1: Ep 5: A bottle of J&B is seen on Hank's counter.

That's all I have for now as I just started a few days ago but I also remember that Johnny Walker Red Label can also be seen in the episode where Hank meets Surfer Girl (Michelle) as he shops for groceries. So to answer your question, Hank's weapon of choice is scotch, but no brand in particular.

The Highland Monarch Scotch Whiskey
This would be my best guess.
Does anyone know the brand name of those mini-bottles he is always using?

The most common drink throughout all 3 seasons is Glenlivet 12 years. From time to time he has other whiskeys/scotches but Glenlivet 12 years is by far the one he drinks most. This is also the alcohol he is drinking at the end of season 3 when he falls into the pool. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Mate you really have no f**king clue about whiskey.First of all where do you think Canadian club WHISKEY is actually made its in America which does not make it a boubon. Next a scotch does not mean it is from Scotland! Its a type of whiskey which uses a blend of batches aiming for a specific flavour. Where as a single malt is one batch which can vary a lot.You really do have a lot to learn and I sincerly agree with scotch=whiskey in saying your a bit of a f**king retard! 4  out of 17 found this valuable. Brendan. You're wrong.

Canadian Club is produced at the Hiram Walker distillery in Windsor, Ontario.

According to our good friends at Wikipedia: Scotch whisky is whisky made in Scotland.

By definition, if it's not from Scotland, it cannot legally be called scotch. There are a number of brands calling themselves 'scots' whiskey, but they are not the same thing and don't fall under the production rules in place in the UK. Wikipedia has an excellent article discussing the history of Scotch Whiskey. I would suggest anyone who enjoys drinking a good scotch give it a read, since it makes the liquor just that much more interesting.

Brendan: If you want to respond to this by calling me a f**king retard too, go ahead. I won't change the facts.

I've tried to read the label on the bottle several times, as Runkel hands him a cigarette and then the bottle, but unfortunately between off-focus and lack of slo mo & decent freeze frame, it is not totally legible. That said, I actually believe it may be a wine, rather than a twist-off bottle (granted, we don't see the opening of either type of bottle.

But the bottle looks darker than most whiskey bottles, and more to the point, the label "seems" read DORO**?EA. Not sure if there are two letters or three in the middle. It could be the name: Dorothea or it may actually be two words, the first being the contraction for "golden" d'oro, but then what is the second? Google only led me to several dead end.
Go to S4E1, and approximately 2:33. If you can load it into something like Final Cut, you may be able to decipher the mystery.

But my deconstruction of the label applies to this bottle only (S4E1), not to all the others Hank is seen chugging from. We do know that when he finishes a manuscript, his routine includes "Weed, Warren, and Jack." That's music by Warren Zevon and a bottle from Jack Daniels.

Yo boothy! Tone it down a little chief. Whatever we need to learn about our fine spirits pales in comparison to your gaps in table manners. Let's try for a tad more civility and couth on here k. Thanks for dropping by. ;-)

ps. no one picked out the spelling mistake from my last post? Belvenie should be Balvenie. hahaha!
